This year, the City of Montreal, in collaboration with the Conseil des métiers d’art du Québec (CMAQ) and La Guilde, is presenting the Prix François-Houdé 2017 Exhibition. The exhibition will be held from November 30, 2017, to February 18, 2018, at La Guilde in Montreal (1356, Sherbrooke Street West). It's a great opportunity to come discover the twelve finalist artisans' works for 2017, as well as works from the 2016's recipients : Amélie Lucier and Julien Mongeau (A+J Métissage).
The Prix François-Houdé awards were launched in 1996 by the city of Montreal in collaboration with the Conseil des métiers d’art du Québec. The goal behind these awards is to promote excellence in Montreal fine craft creations and to enable the dissemination of young craftspeople's arts. The award, which comes with a $5,000 prize, highlights the remarkable craftsmanship that these creations demonstrate and their original contribution to the practice of a fine craft. Whether it be the transformation of woods, textiles, metals, glass, ceramics, papers, or other materials, the awards recognize the mastery of exploratory techniques inherent to the artisans' respective disciplines.
