JE SUIS MÉMOIRE, JE SUIS AVENIR |

CATHERINE LESSARD

May 5 to September 3, 2016

Je sui mémoire, je suis avenir, by Catherine Lessard, offers a rather contemporary vision of this finger-weaving technique. This self-taught artist has learnt various forms of fine crafts: artistic crochet needlework, quilt-making, weaving of the arrowhead sash, etc. Her creative approach respects the traditional techniques employed in the production of this unique Quebec craft. Through her bold and modern creations, she is working on refreshing this traditional finger-weaving technique. During the exhibition, you will be able to admire eight large sized creations, in the form of an installation.  From May 5 to June 4, 2016, the Guild invites you to discover this weaving technique, which has just been designated as an element of Quebec’s intangible heritage by the ministère de la Culture et des Communications.
