Jewellery artist Jessie Pruden (Winnipeg, MB) combines contemporary and traditional designs to create unique and colourful earrings. She uses a variety of high-quality beads. Each piece is slowly and thoughtfully handcrafted. As a proud Metis woman, she decided two years ago that she wanted to reconnect with her roots. She comes from a line of artists. Her father is a painter and wrote music with her cousin about Metis history. Her aunties made the moccasins she wore as a child, the dreamcatchers that hung in her windows, and the beaded barrettes she wore in her hair.
